Get ready – Dreamer Day 2022 takes place on October 4th and 5th!
PROUDLY PRESENTED BY:
In 2011, the United Nations declared October 11th as International Day of the Girl, a day to recognize girls’ rights and the unique challenges they face across the world. In celebration of this, Build a Dream presents Dreamer Day!
For Build a Dream, Dreamer Day recognizes the women in the industry who work in underrepresented fields, such as skilled trades, STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math), emergency response, entrepreneurship, and leadership. Dreamer Day will connect future leaders to the information and tools required to make informed career decisions and guide them to rewarding careers.
At Build a Dream, we dream of a world where we all win! We are passionate about young, female students exploring careers in which women are underrepresented, creating a gender-diverse workforce, and changing global perspectives on women’s contribution to society. That’s why Build a Dream is hosting Dreamer Day, a celebration in honour of International Day of the Girl.
Join us for our live celebration and flag-raising ceremony as we open a world of opportunities to young women and empower them to DREAM BIG! Girls, and any young person identifying as female, can achieve anything they set their minds and hearts to. Build a Dream is here to help them reach for the stars and remind them that NOTHING can get in the way of their dreams!

President and Founder of Build a Dream
Nour utilizes her 15 years of experience as a workforce advisor, mentor, and influencer to inspire youth to make informed career choices that challenge the status quo.
Nour Hachem-Fawaz wants to change global perspectives on women’s contribution to society. Inspired by her mother’s perseverance to excel in a male-dominated field, Nour dug deep into the ‘why’ behind the lack of women in skilled trades. She realized that the barriers keeping women out of these rewarding careers were common to other male-dominated paths and created a non-profit to encourage and empower young women to explore careers they may never have considered.
Nour’s challenge to listeners is that one must first address internal preconceptions before being capable of making significant strides that transform our work and world. A brilliant connector and facilitator, audiences are drawn to her candour and unique perspective from an extensive career in workforce development and her lived experiences as a woman of colour. She shares energetic stories of what leaders are doing right and offers real-world examples of how embracing diverse workplaces accelerates success.
Nour earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Windsor and expanded Build a Dream across Canada while completing her MBA, raising children, and earning many awards and accolades. She spends each day following her passion: creating equity not just in the workplace, but in all of the spaces around us.

Her #goals are to be Lady-Gaga-famous and to totally change math culture so that STEM is finally as cool and accessible as basically every single Taylor Swift song ever. She failed Grade 11 math twice, which was the best thing that ever happened to her. Sidenote, but totally relevant: Vanessa is a founding member of Toronto indie-rock band Goodnight, Sunrise.
